Cold meats, health bread / brown bread, white cheese, carrots, cucumbers, hummus, cottage cheese and a pasta salad

Pepper steak pie / roast chicken pie with a Greek salad

Week 3

Monday
Chicken and Bacon salad with corn fritters and a honey and mustard salad dressing

Tuesday
Beef Kebabs with roast veg cous cous, feta and cashew nut salad

Wednesday
Mediterranean chicken salad with fresh crispy rolls

Thursday
Salmon and cream cheese or cottage cheese with sweet chili sauce on health bread

Friday
Pita with beef or chicken and falafel balls and a Greek salad (including hummus and other sauces)

Week 4

Monday
Foot long roast beef and potato salad rolls

Tuesday
Spinach, feta and fennel quiche with a fresh herb salad

Wednesday
Assorted sushi fashion sandwiches and California rolls

Thursday
Flash steak with rocket, red onion and orange salad

Friday
Parmesan crusted Chicken with basil sauce and a mushroom risotto

Out of the Oven with Our Chefs

Held on the 4th of September at Sandton City Fountain Court this was more than just your ordinary cooking competition, but a prestigeous event with big names and tempting prizes!! Judged by Chef Jenny Morris (better known as the Giggling Gourmet), Chef Lehan Botha, Chef Desmond Morgan and Chef Shane Sauvage big names were definately on the menu and the pressure was definately on the It's Thyme Team to wow the judges. The team comprised of Emma Louise Mack from It's Thyme... Personalised and Samantha Swanson from Blue Note Events. The It's Thyme Team took third place, narrowly missing first place - an exceptional achievement especially considering that Samantha courageously joined the team at number 99 to assist. Thank you Samantha - you are a winner in every sense of the word!

The competition was held to showcase the features and componants of the new, eco friendly, LG SolarDOM Oven - a fantastic, new, innovative product from LG which cuts down on cooking time and is environmentally friendly and designed to retain food flavours and nutrients. Due to their superlative cooking skills and vivacious personalities both Emma and Samantha took home an LG SolarDOM and breadmaker as well as imported food hampers in recognition of their third place victory!

Having only 90minutes to prepare a sensational main course dish in front of judges and spectators is no mean feat but Emma and Samantha had a winning recipe to help them focus on the fun of the experience instead of the frazzled nerves! Yeon Eo Ke Nako - "It's Salmon Time" certainly wowed the judges and spectators with it's vibrant colors, delicate palate of flavours and mouthwatering presentation!

The winners are flying to Korea to compete in the international leg of the competition later this month and |It's Thyme wishes them success - another South African victory will show the world when it comes to cooking, South African rank tops and no kitchen is too hot to handle!!
